Martinsville Speedway is home to the world's largest late model race every year. Having grown up in the short track scene, Williams passion for racing stems from the grassroots level. He has interviewed previous winners, some of the best in the series and other drivers that have their own unique story of making it to the big race in hopes of capturing the iconic grandfather clock.
Huffman was the 2022 track champion at Hickory Motor Speedway, which led to him securing a ride at the CARS Tour level for Nelson Motorsports. Fresh off of a win at the Old North State Nationals, Williams asked him about his career year and the chances for a second major win in the 2023 season.
Looney won the Martinsville 300 back in 2016... oddly enough that was the last time the race was ran during the day. Does that give him an advantage? He would like to think so but knows at this level, just about everyone competing is there for the same reason. He shared some final pre-race thoughts: two grandfather clocks is a lot better than one.
Budzevski jumped into a new ride for Byrd Performance less than a month before the Martinsville 300. He already has one win in his new machine and now fought his way into the main event. Here are his thoughts after a successful transfer into the feature following his first try at a grandfather clock.
